I hope this little primer has wet your appetite for going a few rounds with the Silver King. This is truly some of the greatest fishing that you can do on the planet. I have been catching tarpon my entire life and they still make my legs shake. For sheer excitement the very visual combat with a tarpon is unbeatable. I can't emphasize enough the need for you to practice your casting and your pulling. Get to know what that rod can do and how much pressure it can stand before you break it in two. Being prepared to do battle with these great fish will give you the edge that you need. Tarpon also come in smaller sizes and are almost as much fun as the big boys. A 20lb tarpon on a bonefish rod will give you your money's worth of excitement. But it is the10 foot leap of a 100 pound tarpon that will stir your soul.
